CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY (CSR)
Bigsea Marcom is into publishing, educating, and informing readers, in the field of design & architecture equipping them with info about right practices, products & materials! Bigsea seeks to create a positive impact by promoting work of innovations, sustainability and helping communities operating in the built environment.
We believe that all our publications are carriers of information that betters the life & living of people.
We are also proud to support the causes of education for Girl Child especially whose parents are under trial. This area is noticed by few yet is so sensitive that only education can create the difference in their worlds where we cannot expect them to learn from parents. Here are a few examples of the company’s ongoing philanthropic and environmental efforts:
WADe India – an initiative to give Women in Design & Architecture a voice
WADe India is India’s 1st platform for Women Architects, Artists and Designers to network, discuss issues and have a common platform for voicing different concerns. Role Models were felicitated in 2016 and each one has promised to work for the betterment of the community. The initiative is the brain child of our Director Vertica Dvivedi, who herself has reached her current position after a lot of struggles. She believes, good initiatives develop chain reactions. ‘You just continue doing the good, someone from somewhere will join and carry forward the torch for awakening & lighting.’ Women in India need platforms where they become part of a community. Getting connected is power. Getting connected is learning and supporting too. Getting connected is about holding the hand in times of need. WADe is carrying on the objectives of spreading the work of women designers, making them more visible. WADe is continuously on the search to recognise and reward women-led development. This year, WADe mega event is happening from 28-29 October 2017 at Leela Ambience Gurgaon. More in www.wadeindia.com
Surfaces Supports Sustainability & Sanitation – ‘Sustainability 4S’
This section is started as an initiative by Surfaces Reporter magazine of Bigsea Marcom (I) Pvt. Ltd. to increase awareness among important stakeholders in the industry for Sanitation & Sustainability drives.
Currently, there is a big discord between the initiatives launched by Government and allocation of funds by Private companies for such activities. We know companies who are ready to involve in good initiatives but do not know the various avenues for best fund allocation that matches their ideals. Surfaces Reporter’s ‘Sustainability 4S’ acts as a bridge to fill the gap through informative approach.
Being a magazine media with goodwill and strong readership base, we felt it is imperative to use our strength for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs that will motivate, inform and aware the architects & designers to suggest sustainable & water saving solutions to clients. We expect this initiative will inspire Manufacturers & Brands to allocate funds to Start-ups and enterprises who are involved in good initiatives for mass sanitation drives as well as Government programs.
Started few months back, through this drive, we are bringing good initiatives to the fore by posting in ‘Sustainability 4S’. Mailers are sent to specific TG for reaching the decision makers. All the cost involved in this for time, content, communication, travel, people, are funded by Bigsea Marcom.
Educating Girl child of jail inmates – saving the next victim
Bigsea Marcom is supporting the education of Anjali through India Vision Foundation, which is a non-profit, voluntary, non-government organization based in New Delhi. The journey of India Vision Foundation began with the Ramon Magsaysay Award (equivalent to the Asian Nobel prize) conferred on the Indian Police Service’s first lady officer, Dr. Kiran Bedi. It was awarded to her for bringing about a positive relationship between the police and the people.
The Foundation focuses on empowering prison inmates and emphasizes the education of their children, who if not secured and nurtured, would probably lose their way or go missing from their homes, while their mothers remain imprisoned. Hence, their aim is to Save the Next Victim and Bigsea is glad to be a part of this mission.
Anjali is an average academic performer. In March'17 she was facilitated to meet her
mother in prison. In February she was part of two sports competitions , one is at her school
and the other is an inter NGO sports day. She prepared well for the annual exam and was
promoted to the next level in April. She was prepared well for the Talent hunt 2017, going
to be on stage in May 2017. For the summer vacation (May - June 2017 ) she will be at hostel
due to her mother's imprisonment.
School visit activities with Anjali and her friends including mental health
well-being sessions of clinical psychologist .
Supporting the homeless during winter
Every year during extremes of winter, team Bigsea sets out with a warm message of Care and Love for those in the streets without a shelter. One may not have paid attention to news but we have been keenly observing that every year even in the 70th year of the India’s Independence, hundreds of homeless people die due to the cold winter in the nation's capital. There are old & sick people, new borns, mothers who need maternal care, children suffering from mal nutrition, and all suffering from extreme cold nights. If our initiatives of finding the areas where such people come to find shelter and our warm blankets can save the life of even one person, we believe our work is successful. This initiative is being done since 10 years within the periphery of East & South Delhi, Noida and Faridabad.
